July 2011 - The Starlite Ballroom in historic downtown Fairbury will soon be home to Fairbury’s newest business, Studio 3 Dance Studio According to owner/director Tamara Culhane of Lincoln, Studio 3 Dance Studio will offer classes for children (boys and girls) ages 3 and up in the following disciplines: Studio 3 is Culhane’s third dance studio. She also owns and operates The Dance Project in Hebron, Ne., Crete’s Dance Company in Crete, Ne. and THE EDGE, a Repertory Dance/Competition Troupe.
Culhane will be assisted by 3 teachers, Tayler Culhane, Sara Pohlmann and Caitlin Hoffman, who will travel to Fairbury each week bringing with them expertise in their particular area of emphasis.
Tayler Culhane of Lincoln has been dancing for the past 15 years. She has been a teacher with Crete’s Dance Company & The Dance Project for the past 4 years. Her specialties are hip hop, jazz & lyrical. Tayler is a jazz & hip hop choreographer for THE EDGE competition troupe and is currently enrolled in Southeast Community College in Lincoln. Sara Pohlmann of Plymouth has been dancing for 19 years, the past 10 years teaching for Crete’s Dance Company & The Dance Project. Pohlmann specializes in lyrical, tap, jazz & ballet/pointe and has been a competition choreographer for THE EDGE for the past 7 years. She is a registered nurse and is married to husband, Brandon. Caitlin Hoffmann of Lincoln is currently a teacher and director at the Capital City Dance Shack in Lincoln, home of the Capital City Cloggers. She specializes in clogging and hip hop and has been a competition director for five years. She currently dances on her studio's senior competition team, Tap This, winners of the 2011 National Grand Championship Competition. She co-directs the studio's junior competition team Synchronicity, and directs the elementary competition team, Sole Patrol. She is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Studio 3 has already begun preparing for the new season in Fairbury by teaching a workshop at the Girl Scout Camp this past June. A performance was held at the Jefferson County Fair where students from the Crete and Hebron studios will be performed solos and duets in the 4-H building. Parents and prospective students had the opportunity to meet the dancers and staff. Open Registration for Studio 3 Dance Studio is scheduled for Wednesday, August 3rd from 4 – 7 p.m. Parents who wish to enroll their children will have a opportunity to meet the teachers, tour the studio and register for the 2011-2012 season. According to Culhane, “There are so many talented dancers in Fairbury and we are so excited to work with them. We can’t wait to get started!” |
